Only person that have been retrenched / dismissed are allowed to claim UIF. Therefore, if you retire, there should be a pension in place for you, either through yourself or the company.

Call the Deaprtment of Labour and further discuss the matter with them.

Uif may only be claimed in terms of the following:

unemployment benefits (this only applies to person who were dismissed whether they were retrenched / dismmissed due to conduct and so forth.)

maternity benefits

illness benefits

adoption benefits

dependent benefits

As already stated, only employee's who are dismissed or retrenched may claim UIF for unemployment. You would have to prove that you were dismissed in such a case as yours, which would be unlikely.

I am still working at age 72, and still at the same employer since 2000 - I am expecting to retire but there is no retirement fund in place for me at all. Will I be able to claim the once-off on retirement/retrenchment when the date is due?

Hi

I am retired and wish to claim my UIF benefits due to me even though I chose to retire at age 65. Why am I not allowed to claim my benefits? Surely at retirement the benefits that have been paid in on my behalf are due to me. I have not as yet applied for my normal government pension.

Please advise me

You are entitled to unemployment benefits upon your retirement. Application form can be downloaded from the internet.
