Sick Leave processes as unpaid

I'm looking for some advice or assistance with my query below and whether I can dispute this? I am currently a permanent (fulltime) employee, that works in the Automotive Industry. As you know we are currently in strike season. I unfortunately fell ill during this time and was off sick from work, during a short time period called by my employer. I have issued my employer with a valid sick note, from a specialist that I saw prior to staying off work. And was not requested to take part or put on short time by my Manager. An internal payroll was sent out by my employer to all employees, stating that no leave other than annual or unpaid leave would be paid during this time. What I would like to know is the following; I entitled to be paid for my period of absence? Still having enough sick days available and issuing a valid sick note? My salary for September has subsequently had these sick days deducted as unpaid leave. Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks

I would suggest you contact the appropriate bargaining council. This may be a matter governed by collective agreement.
