I started a new position beginning 2013 which has 2 facets to it.

One aspect is not the right fit for me in terms of a job.  The other is more suited to me and more enjoyable.

Have communicated wish to continue with one aspect and not the other.

Have suggested to company to give me second role to develop (This was part of IDP as well) and continue with with view to expanding the role. (I believe there is scope to do this)

Company has indicated no guarantee that another position is available or would become available and the second role according to them does not warrant a full time position.

If no other position becomes available to do icw the second role, and they cannot/will not offer the second role because of the above, my only alternative would be to seek other employment which i am loathe to do.

My question.  In the instance above, where I am keen to continue with this role, do I have any recourse with the company in terms of a package or not?

The company will not close the role, they will give it to somebody else.

If the role is in your contract, you unfortunately have to abide by the contract or resign. If it is not in your contract, and you did not protest when you were given that role, then it might also be a tacit term of your contract, in which case you have no recourse either.
