Standby on PH

Good daysmile

I work as a Helpdesk technician in a ISP

We get basic of R7000 and work 5 days a week

Normally we do not work PH.

We do standby after hours from home and must answer calls and help clients from 17:00 (after work) untill 22:00 and again in the morning before work from 06:00 to 08:00

We only get R165 per day on standby including weekends(08:00 until 20:00)

My Q: What is the going standby rate at my basic and; On PH is the rate still the same as normal days?

I would think that for PH we should at least get double our normal standby rate.

And the per day standby of R165 seems a little low.

Any advice should help me

Thanks

Dear John

In terms of the Basic Conditions of Employment Act (section 18) an employee is entitled to double his hourly wage for every hour worked.

It is important to note that parties can contractually alter the basic conditions of employment so for example if your contract of employment states what you are entitled to then you will have opted out of the Basic Conditions of Employment Act.
