Hi,

 

I have been informed by HR consultant who i report to that i will be retrenched shortly.  I found this out about 3 weeks ago.  They are now coming tomorrow to talk to me and obviously give me my retrenchment letter.

My retrenchment came about due to them centralising the HR service, i work within the region.  They had a change in their inititial structure whereby a new HR consultant declined her offer and they promoted the HR Assistant to the HR Consultant position.  Now they have a vacant position for an HR Assistant in JHB.  They want to know if i would relocate.

I informed them that i would not be able to due to the following reasons:

  • I am the breadwinner in my household.
  • I have grave financial commitmnts and only 4 years away from paying of my bond.
  • My son is in the middle of his studies.
  • The cost of living in JHB, and still manage my household from expenses with the same income.
  • I have worked well remoted with our clients in KZN why can this not continue, even though the HR consultant will be based in JHB.  They have allowed other assistants to work from different provinces with their managers.
  • I work well on my own and with very little supervision and guidance
  • They have changed the role of the HR Consultant that i report to, to an OD Consultant and she will be working from KZN, why can this not be the same for me.  Her new assistant will be based in JHB.

I will know their response to the above tomorrow.

Should they ask me to leave by the end of this month, how much of pay would they need to give me?
