If you are a subcontractor then how was it possible that a disciplinary hearing was necessary? have you signed a contract of employment with your boss? As far as I am aware employees receive a salary from their employer and do not invoice, although this is not the absolute defining criteria of an independent contractor. how is it that you came to work for your "boss"?

Usually with regard to an independent contractor all obligations revolve around the contract/s to which the contractor offers his services.
