Hi there, today 15 December 2016, I was called in to the office and was told that I will be retrenched with immediate effect as the company lost an external contract which I have worked on, but I have signed a permanent contract with the employer and not the external parties. So I am a bit confused, are they allowed to do that and not giving me any alternatives, ie. Other positions?
Check the terms of your contract. Usually only fixed-term contracts are workload-dependent. You can still refer it to the CCMA if you feel that is unfair, but you only have 30 days from the date of termination before you must request condonation for late filing.
