I started working for a private company 17/04/2017. In the interview verbal agreements were made. I was never given a written contract. Employer always had an excuse and was very intimidating when questioned. No payslips or even Confirmation of employment letter was ever given, even I requested it monthly. This company hire and fire like they want. I was made to believe that it was a long term commitment. When I started asking for my overtime due, employer got aggrevated and refused to speak to me. He went on vacation, upon his return, informed me verbally that I knew the work was finished, thus meaning I was no longer employed by him. I laid a complaint for unfair dismissal and unfair labour practice against him with CCMA. What are my rights? Should I go to a lawyer directly? This case is just dragging along, in the meantime I have no money and a family to provide for and bills to pay. How can he get away with this? I found out that he didn't register me with UIF, no idea if paye was paid over. He kept no paperwork. Told me that I can go to ccma, I wont get anywhere.Help!!
